This is PSSI's explanation regarding Nathan Tjoe-A-On's departure from the U23 National Team

NOBARTV.CO.ID PSSI explains the status of Nathan Tjoe-A-On, wing defender U23 Nathan Tjoe-A-On left the squad shortly after the final match in Group A of the U23 Asian Cup against Jordan. The SC Heerenveen player left to join his club in . Regarding this, PSSI also spoke up.

As is known, last night, the final match in Group A of the 23 U2024 Asian Cup took place between the Indonesian National Team vs the Jordan National Team. Apart from this duel, in the same group there was also a match between the Qatar National Team vs the Jordan National Team.

This match, which brings together four teams, basically only requires three teams. The three teams are the Indonesian National Team, Jordan National Team and Australian National Team. Meanwhile, another team, namely Qatar, does not consider this match to be important enough because the hosts of the 23 U2024 Asian Cup have already ensured themselves of qualifying for the quarter-finals through the previous two matches.

So, of the four teams in group A last night, Qatar was the only team that was certain to qualify through the first two matches. This is because they have won twice each over Indonesia (2-0) and Jordan (2-1). Therefore, when the other three teams were aiming for victory in the final group match, Qatar was more relaxed.

But unfortunately, for the Indonesian national team itself, the Garuda squad had to lose one player after the match against Jordan. In fact, it is very likely that the player will not be able to play in the quarter-final match. The player in question is Nathan Tjoe-A-On. Nathan has reportedly flown and returned to his club SC Heerenveen. In fact, the player played a very important role in the last few matches of the Indonesian U23 National Team in the U23 Asian Cup.

Regarding this matter, PSSI also raised its voice after the departure of its mainstay player. Through one of the PSSI Exco members, Arya Sinulingga, his party said that initially SC Heerenveen was very difficult to let go of the player.

"Yes, yesterday we lobbied Nathan's club, and from the results of that lobbying, it was really difficult for them to let Nathan go at first," said Arya Sinulingga.

"The Chairman asked directly to at least be able to qualify for the top 8 "2024 because our initial target is there," added Arya.

"Mr Chairman is really trying so that Nathan can play and achieve the targets that have been targeted by the coach of the U-23 Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-yong."

However, in the end, SC Heerenveen was willing to let go of the young defender on condition that it last until the end of the 23 U2024 Asian Cup group phase. And last night, the last match in the group phase was played.

“That's why the Chairman really tried to lobby Nathan's club to be able to play. "At first, they didn't want to let them go because it wasn't on FIFA's agenda, but finally they let them go when we asked them to qualify for the group," said Arya.

"Now we have passed the group, and that is what we lobbied for at Nathan's club, the effort we made," concluded the PSSI Exco member.
