STY Calls 30 Players for TC Ahead of U-20 Asian Cup, There are 6 New Names!

NOBARTV NEWS – PSSI has announced 30 players to take part in the training camp ahead of the 20 U-2023 Asian Cup. In this list, the Garuda squad retainers are still dominated by old names. However, some of them are debut players.

As is known, the young Garuda squad will appear at the 20 U-2023 Asian Cup event next March. Marselino Ferdinan et al are in group A with the host national teams, Uzbekistan, Iraq and Syria.

So far, two strong teams in this group have started their training camps. The two teams in question are the Uzbekistan National Team which has carried out TC in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There, the young Uzbekistan squad will have two trials against the U-20 Saudi Arabian National Team.

As for the Iraqi national team, they have also undergone training camps and several trial matches in the European country of Türkiye. Meanwhile, Indonesian National team and Syria has not yet started the TC.

In the previous edition (20 U-2018 Asian Cup), the Indonesian national team stopped in the last eight. At that time, the young Garuda squad acted as hosts and were defeated in the knockout phase by the Japanese National Team 2-0. In the group stage of the 20 U-2018 Asian Cup, the Indonesian U-20 National Team finished as runners-up after recording two wins and one defeat.

However, in this edition (U-20 Asian Cup 2023), Marselino Ferdinan et al are clearly required to get even better results. For your information, the 20 U-2023 Asian Cup semi-finalists or teams that qualify for the semifinals will represent Asia to U-20 World Cup 2023.

The Indonesian National Team is confirmed to qualify for the 20 U-2023 World Cup

Even though Shin Tae-yong's team will certainly play in the U-20 World Cup because of their status as hosts, Muhammad Ferrari et al must perform well in the U-20 Asian Cup. Therefore, Shin has also prepared his best squad that will perform at this event.

Through the official PSSI website, STY has summoned 30 players who will attend the training camp next February. There are 6 debutants who will take part in the TC.
