NOBARTV NEWS – PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir will invite Indonesian President Joko Widodo to watch the FIFA Matchday Indonesia versus Argentina match.
As is known, this month, the Garuda squad led by Shin Tae-yong will play two matches entitled FIFA Matchday. These two matches will be played in Indonesia against two different teams. So, this match is the same as the match Indonesian National team in the previous two FIFA Matchday periods – where both matches were played in Indonesia.
PSSI took advantage of the last FIFA Matchday in 2022 by inviting the Curacao National Team. The match against the Curacao National Team was played twice in Indonesia. Likewise with the first FIFA Matchday match in 2023. At that time, on FIFA Matchday March 2023, the Indonesian national team hosted the African team Burundi twice, also in Indonesia.
However, the difference is, for FIFA Matchday this June, the Garuda squad played twice in Indonesia but against different teams. First, Marc Klok et al will meet the Palestinian National Team at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) Surabaya on June 14 2023. After that, they will play the second match which will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) Jakarta a few days later or at 19th.
For match tickets, PSSI has opened them since Monday (05/06). However, this ticket is specifically for the match between the Indonesian National Team versus Argentina. Tickets will be open for three days starting Monday, today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, tickets for the Indonesia versus Palestine match will be announced today - but not sales.
On the first day yesterday, 20 thousand tickets for Indonesia versus Argentina were sold out. There are 40 thousand more tickets remaining which will be sold today and tomorrow at 20 thousand each.
In fact, the GBK stadium, which will be used as the venue for the Argentina versus Argentina match, can accommodate up to 70 thousand spectators. However, as previously announced, only 60 thousand tickets will be sold – and the rest will be distributed to guests from governments, neighboring country federations and other guests.
One of those who is certain to be an invited guest is the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo. The plan is that Erick Thohir will invite the number one person in Indonesia. Erick really hopes that Jokowi will also watch the match.
"And of course we hope that the President (Jokowi) will come to watch the match on June 19," said Erick Thohir Monday (05/06) yesterday.
Erick said that his party (PSSI) had prepared and provided a place for the invited guests - including the president.
"A place has been provided," he added.
"Well, we from PSSI have the right to invite, I think we have already listed the ministries, for example the Minister of Youth and Sports (Dito Ariotedjo) invited, the President invited," concluded the man who also serves as Minister of BUMN.
